31 Animals August (August 2024)

Day 1 – Noisy

Meet Ketchup the Howler Monkey! When they’re not swinging about from tree to tree or chilling out in the sun, they like to sneak into the arcade to see if they can beat their high score. The employees do take pity on the little guy, the poor thing still isn’t tall enough to actually see what’s going on. Guess they just really love the strange noises that come out of it.

Day 2 – Water Creature

Now I know it’s Friday and it has been a long sunny week, a lot of you probably just wanna rush off to the pub and down as many pints as you can before the sun leaves forever. Just stay safe out there is all I want to say, you never know what might be swimming around in your pint when you’re 5 deep and don’t know which way is left anymore. Don’t be the person to create a “finding nemo” type situation, shame on you for fishnapping.

Day 3 – Flying Creature

Meet Joey! Growing up they were told many a tale of how in the olden days, birds were as big as buildings and could breathe fire. They knew these tales to be true from all the pictures and flags of these beasts jotted around the place, and often daydreamed of what it would be like to be a bird back then. What a life it could have been, but they knew they wouldn’t get the same delicious chips that exist right now.

Day 4 – Safari

Meet Nebula the Clouded Leopard! This young cub is searching for adventure as they trek through dense forests to see what other creatures they can find. With a great sense of balance and a joy of climbing, they look onto the horizon from tree to tree gazing at the beautiful views before perching on a branch to nap since exploring can be exhausting for the little one. Who knows what else she’ll discover in the wilds, but that is a mystery she is eager to solve.

Day 5 – Pet

Meet Milo! Their owner is a bit sleepy and hasn’t quite realised their late for that Monday morning meeting that is super important and was told repeatedly not to miss. Luckily, Milo was there to save the day by popping on their sneaky disguise and now nobody is none the wiser. They are just a respectable employee eager to start the work week off right in the hopes that a promotion is on the horizon! That means more delicious biscuits in Milo’s future.

Day 6 – Big Cat

This is Mr. Gruff. They have told you multiple times to stay off their property and I’m telling you know they’re pretty sick of you trespassing. I know it’s funny seeing a tiger in dungarees and you want to take pictures for the gram, but not all tigers can be athletes and shoved on cereal boxes for being good at swimming. Why don’t you just give him some appreciation for growing some semi-decent carrots and just let him get on with his life? Seriously, grow up.

Day 7 – Fierce

With all those statistics rolling around out there talking about the ocean and how much of it is still unexplored, it does make you wonder what could be out there lurking in the depths. Countless centuries of tales and legends spark fascination in all of us on what kind of creatures roam the deep blue. So next time you’re ever out on a boat or a cruise and get that little tickle down your spine, why not look overboard and try and spot the glistening eyes of a beast staring up at you from the deep below. Their beauty might end up being the last thing you ever see.

Day 8 – Furry

Meet Matilda! She may look unhappy to see you but honestly, that is just her face. Anytime you even try to take a picture, you just end up getting a grumpy cat. Although she could be angry right now we’d never know it, probably best to just back away and let her continue to nap amongst the flowers. Sweet dreams.

Day 9 – Reptile

Meet Asmeldan! They are a lovely, little helper to a grouchy, old wizard. They like to spend days like this up in the tower with a stack of books eager to learn all about the world and what magic it holds. Today they were given the task to just watch some jelly, which Asmeldan assumed was just a trick since jelly doesn’t do anything but jiggle. Looks like after today, they might have to do a bit more research on what kind of slimes exist and the dangers they can wreck if left unattended.

Day 10 – Beginning with A

Meet Alfie the Alsatian! Today is their birthday so as a nice treat they are being spoiled with a whole steak! Their owners probably should’ve cut it up a bit before putting it in front of him though, cause by the looks of that face the bugger is gonna scarf it down without even enjoying the present. Oh well, as long as he’s happy and enjoying their special day, that’s all that matters.

Day 11 – Animal Family

On days like these, it’s important to be mindful of your family whether they’re your born into or chosen family. The people who stick by you no matter what is the unconditional love that everyone deserves to have. So take today as a special day to remind those people how much you care about them, maybe over a drink or a scattered pile of chips like this lovely family is doing. Nothing beats a good family meal.

Day 12 – Rodent

Meet Almond! Ever since they were little, they’ve wanted to join the local baseball team and now they are finally big enough to step up to the plate. Let’s cheer them on and hope they can hit a home run today!

Day 13 – Large Animal

Meet Dennis! They’ve decided to take out their zookeeper on a little treat since they thought it would a great time and that they deserved it for being so good at their job. However, Dennis doesn’t yet remember that he escaped the zoo, stole a tuxedo, and has been bothering patrons at this fancy establishment. Luckily the zookeeper came in clutch with the tranqs but doesn’t think things will go further. At least they can still be friends once Dennis is back behind bars.

Day 14 – Small Animal

Meet Brooke! They may be small but they are packed full of might and are eager to see what the world has in store. Sure it might take a while to see it all since she is the size of a fingernail but you know what, don’t crush this poor lizard’s dreams like that! Today is their day and they should seize it however they like.

Day 15 – Fish

Meet Morgan! After days of evading fisherpeople and gloating about all the hooks and nets they’ve escaped from, they decided to treat themselves to a spa day! They even found an old wowcher for a lovely place by the seaside that specialises in a new wave of relaxation. They even got a complimentary robe that is both soft and fluffy but also crispy. What a perfect place to feel serene and catch a couple of z’s.

Day 16 – Colourful Animal

Meet Trish! They’ve flown down to watch the local festivities as people gather to enjoy the nice weather and have a great time. They’re always amazed to see such vibrant colours and be reminded of how beautiful she is. Of course, if she stopped looking at her own reflection in the trophy, she could see all the colourful costumes that showcase the same amount of beauty. I’m sure she’ll eventually look up when someone comes to claim the cup.

Day 17 – Amphibian

Meet Neville! Even though most frogs love a marshy or boggy environment to wade around in, Neville here has more of a taste for sweeter things. The pesky little creature just loves hopping from one pudding to the next, no matter the flavour or how hot the fudge is. So the next time you’re out enjoying a dessert and hear a croaking sound coming your way, be sure to cover your custard!

Day 18 – Black & White

You can never go wrong with ice cream, but you can go too far. I know we live in a time where you gotta keep making advancements to keep up but some things should just be sacred. Just check out this poor penguin, eager to have some delicious ice cream but some bozo thought it would be funny to make it Liqourice and Squid Ink flavoured. Do better, buddy!

Day 19 – Spots

Around the world, you can experience a lot of fine cuisines, and I’m sure some places off the planet love the food too! There’s probably a diner floating around on some asteroid that loved the look of doughnuts on our planet and thought it would be delicious to recreate them. I guess the concept of sprinkles doesn’t really exist where they’re from though, since they seem to have replaced the specks and spots with something with a little more protein.

Day 20 – Stripes

Now that summer is slowly coming to an end and all of you are rushing off to cram in last minute trips, there is a cardinal rule that you should never forget. Always watch your food! I mean sure watch the fire too since you don’t want it spreading or hurting anybody, but the food is important too since you don’t know what else out there can smell it. Let’s just hope your smoked bacon doesn’t get any more smells attached to it.

Day 21 – Spikey

Meet Ophelia! She’s out on her daily stroll in the park basking in the sunshine before the usual spouts of rain come back into season. She hopes that this autumn will be a dry one as she misses falling backwards into a nice crunchy pile of leaves and it doesn’t feel the same when the leaves are all soggy. Let’s hope Ophelia’s wish comes trues and we see big piles of dry leaves on the horizon.

Day 22 – Cute

Meet Tulip! They are the newest addition to the local park and they are very excited to explore the surroundings. They are especially fond of the park keeper, who often stops by with little treats to help their day get better. Today they are being treated to some delicious almond milk, which is a lot easier to tackle than the nuts themselves for little Tulip.

Day 23 – Fast

Meet Felix! They have been very eager to see what life is like outside the city but can’t quite seem to get very far on his own. Luckily they were able to hitch a ride with somebody and get the chance to see everything in a whole new way! That is if this bird minds them staying on their back for a little while longer, even though Felix is still pretty small I’m not sure birds are used to having passengers fly with them.

Day 24 – Funny Looking

Meet the Glump Crew! Now you probably think this is a silly chimpanzee wearing a crappy costume to try and sneak into an comic convention undetected? Well that’s where you are wrong! For added levels of stealth, what you see in front of you is about 7 Capybara running amok inside a really cheap gorilla costume they’ve nicked with added costume elements to make sure their disguise is perfect! Let’s hope it gets them as far as they want to go.

Day 25 – Jumping Animal

You know you’re spending your bank holiday right when you treat yourself to the biggest dessert on the menu cause you know you’re worth it. Just make sure you don’t leave it in easy to reach places when you’re off getting distracted by god knows what. Well unless you’re down to share with all the crickets and beetles that lurk below the parlour in the hopes of a sweet nibble whenever they can get one. By all means, dig in!

Day 26 – Camouflage

Well usually I introduce somebody in this part but I can’t for the life of me see an animal or person in this picture. I mean maybe there’s something watching from within the bushes but honestly I’m stumped. I’m sorry for anyone expecting to see something today, I guess you can enjoy the view of this street until tomorrow. Hope you have a good day!

Day 27 – Dangerous

Meet Wheeler! Much like pirate captains with their parrots on their shoulder, they are the beloved pet to the leader of the deadliest biker gang in town. They enjoying the views of the cityscape fly by as he travels with the pack, beating their wings to the rhythm of the thunderous engines that echo through the wind. Hopefully they can get a jacket at some point though, since those night rides are starting to get a little chilly.

Day 28 – Farm Animal

Meet Angus! Usually when it comes to pigs they just hop right into the mud and don’t care what happens but little Angus here treats it like a delicacy. They enjoy every second they can spend in the mud and hates when the farmers come around to wash it up. They even dress up nice for the occasion because they want to look their best for the mud. So whenever the rain hits and you get bummed out, just think of all the joy Angus is having with a new fresh patch mud and all those sorrows will wash away.

Day 29 – Nocturnal

Meet Scratchy! They saw that you were looking a little parched and is offering you a lovely beverage they found. As cute as this little guy looks, please do not take it. He is a trickster and just likes filling shot glasses he finds with random liquids and getting people to take the bait. Even though that looks like a refreshing lemonade, I’d wager that’s just a shot of pure lemon juice. Instead give them a cracker, Scratchy is always delighted to get crackers.

Day 30 – Slow

Meet Abel! Now that summer is leaving and autumn is rolling in, a lot of horror fans like Abel are beginning to celebrate Halloween on the horizon. To kick things off, Abel is visiting his local movie theatre for a 24-hour classic monster marathon! I bet you can’t tell who his favourite is.

Day 31 – Bird

Meet Gary! They’re a bit bummed out at the moment after a recent kerfuffle he’s had with some officials. They have been training all year round for this year’s Ironman Triathlon but apparently, because he is a bird it is “cheating” and “unfair for the other people” if he took part. Sadly he won’t be getting a shiny new medal this year but at least he’s got the one he made himself. Better luck next year buddy.
