In June, I wanted to incorporate my new fascination with bugs into my daily art and stumbled upon the art challenge Junebug. Unfortunately there were no recent prompt lists so I decided to just pluck 30 bugs at random to study and sketch instead.
In May, I was really feeling the toxic aspects of social media set in so I took some time away to study nature. This month I specialised in flowers but I'd later spend the beginning of summer studying bugs.
The content focuses on the evolution of art and the artist/designer/maker's role from Modernism to Postmodernism and Post-Postmodernism, exploring movements like Poststructuralism, Posthumanism, and Transhumanism. The struggle against a grand narrative, influence on the artist's evolution, and societal impacts like the Covid-19 pandemic are examined. Various artists and thinkers are referenced, offering a comprehensive exploration of art's evolution.
The dissertation discusses the author's independent inquiry into affect theory, aimed at understanding emotion perception in art. It includes a study on key thinkers of affect theory, perceptions of emotions, and applications of affect theory in art. The study involved three case studies - color, greyscale, and narrative, and an analysis of the data collected. The findings revealed intriguing trends, challenges, and insights into perception and emotional responses.
