Stevetember (September 2024)

Day 1 – Pebble

Meet Steve! They are an old friend of mine who has kind of been missing for a while but this month they’ve decided to come to visit and tell me all about their adventures. Join us through the month of Stevetember to see what kind of antics this little guy has got up to. For starters, here they are showing off their pet pebble that always travels with them which given it’s size can make travelling a little tricky.

Day 2 – Tropical

On this particular day, Steve travelled a great distance to find a place bursting with joy and excitement. People either crowding around these colourful stalls or screaming in delight somewhere far in the background like they were flying. Thankfully, Steve found a safe haven upon this very hairy mountain and decided to enjoy the view before nestling themselves inside.

Day 3 – Pin

This day got off to a bit of a rocky start, at least from what Steve can remember of it. What they thought was a safe haven inside the hairy mountain, they awoke to the sensation of spinning before being hurdled into a group of statues. Safe to say they won’t be seeking sanctuary in any coconuts ever again.

Day 4 – Paper

To help them on their travels from place to place, Steve would often seek out odd jobs to help pay their way while also helping out where they can. One of these tasks was to help deliever newspapers but they were far too big to carry by themselves. That is when Steve got the bright idea to tear the papers into segments and sell them that way, giving people bite sized chunks of their daily news.

Day 5 – Dinner

Most of the time when it comes to traversing the long, winding paths of cityscapes, Steve can find things a bit difficult. I mean wouldn’t you if you were the same height as the curb? Everytime you’d want to cross the street, you’d have to climb a wall after spending what feels like a lifetime dodging cars. Thankfully after their many travels, they have found early mornings to be the best time to climb as there is always things left behind to help them get up.

Day 6 – Quiet

Whenever they get the time to sit back and relax, Steve loves to find themselves a corner and catch up on all sorts of adventures that other people are going on. They are always amazed at the incredible things these people have done and is inspired by every tale they read. Especially when there are a bunch of great pictures of the adventures to go with them.

Day 7 – Bush

For all the adventures anybody is able to take, it is always good to have a companion with you. Whether it is a long time friend or a trusted pet, it is better to share the experience with somebody else. You can even travel with strangers if you desire to meet new people and that is what Steve likes to do most. I mean most of the time they carry them in a pocket or on a finger but being stuffed in a beard is a new experience they would recommend! Just make sure they didn’t have french onion soup for lunch.

Day 8 – Performance

No matter where you go in the world, there is always an show to see. Whether it is on stage in front of hundreds or on the street to a few groups of people, every performance out there is worth to see at least once. Even if it’s an odd medley of Shakespeare cited by a string being who doesn’t understand most of the words. All productions should be given a chance to thrive and be seen.

Day 9 – Unbelievable

One of the tales that I have yet to believe from Steve is the time they got chased by a crowd of clowns. Apparently according to them, hundreds of clowns began to start speeding after them once they had gotten a hold of one of their shiny, rubber noses. All you could hear was a stampede of clopping clown shoes and a subtle squeak everytime to nose hit a stone or a step. Honestly I don’t know where they get these stories from, can’t imagine that many clowns in one place.

Day 10 – Adventure

When on their travels, Steve ponders at the old maps that they use and often daydreams of what it would be like to meet one of those sea monsters that are dotted about the oceans. They feel like not all of them are that bad and they might even let them ride them across the seven seas in search for mystical treasure. Until that day comes, all that they have to practice is a little wind up toy that floats in the sink since you don’t want the water to be too deep when practicing your sea monster riding skills.

Day 11 – Baked

After years of studying ancient pirate maps, Steve always knew that when it came to finding lost treasure that X would always mark the spot. They confirmed this to be true when they found the most incredible treasure one day, an enormous, soft and warm pillow where they took the best nap that they have ever had. Don’t think there is a better treasure than that.

Day 12 – Unravel

Some days there is no adventure. Some days you just need to take a step back and pick up the pieces. Take a break once in while to not burn the candle at both ends. Unless you wanna end up a flimsy pile of string.

Day 13 – Spook

To celebrate the upcoming spooky season and with today being the famous Friday the 13th, Steve decided to try some fun, spooky spells that they found in an old book in the basement. They landed on a seance spell as they thought it would be a fun adventure to speak with the dead! So they popped on a little costume so that the ghosts felt more at home and began getting to work. I have no idea who they got into contact with, but from what I can hear they seem friendly enough.

Day 14 – Stuck

Always remember when you’re exploring new places, watch where you’re going as you never know what is ahead. Steve made that exact mistake when traversing an unknown fluffy hill that turned out to be softer than they thought. They are currently stuck in a pit of cream and are having both a good and bad time trying to get out. Guess things could be worse, they could be stuck in a jam.

Day 15 – Cozy

On cloudy Sundays like these, it’s always good to take a break and relax. Pop on your favourite hat and lay back with a good show and a fresh cup of tea. Kick your feet up, you’ve earned it!

Day 16 – Mess

It’s always nice to lend a helping hand wherever you can, whether it’s holding a door open for someone in a rush or making a nice treat for someone who needs a pick-me-up. Steve decided to try their best to make some nachos for a friend today but kinda got themselves into a pit of a pickle when applying the guacamole. Maybe they should’ve asked for help themselves instead of being stuck for hours.

Day 17 – Company

Many people think Steves are these small and odd creatures but that is only because they have yet to see what other Steves are out there. There are many Steves of all shapes, sizes and colours each with their own sets of values and dreams. However there is one thing that unites them all, and that is that they are all friendly and like to help whenever they can. Even if it is just to stand there and keep you company.

Day 18 – Race

Today was the day! Steve had been waiting a long time to do a sprint race since they never really knew how fast they could go but now they’ve been given the chance to try out a track. Thankfully they had some gear in his size, however, to make things a little fairer rather than a 100m sprint they’ve settled on a 10cm one instead. After all, this is a sprint and not a marathon.

Day 19 – Voyage

Nothing beats an adventure on the open seas. The wind in your hair and the fresh ocean spray splashing against your face, there’s nothing quite like it. Of course, the dangers also come plenty when storms roll around, harsh waves and whirlpools threatening to take your ship to the dark depths below. Luckily when it comes to boats, the more we make them the sturdier they seem to get. Unless they are made out of paper, at that point you might as well salute and go down with the ship at the first sight of a calm drizzle.

Day 20 – Tangled

Sometimes looks can be deceiving. You think you’re opening what looks to be a can of creamy cheese chunks but next thing you know, you’re tangled up in savoury-smelling sludge. Hopefully, you stay stuck until the cheese hits the floor otherwise that is a fall I don’t think anyone could recover from, both mentally and physically.

Day 21 – Protect

Anybody can be a hero since there should not be a limit on how many good deeds you can do. Always be prepared to give out kindness whenever the city needs it. Plus you don’t need to be a billionaire to be a hero either! Why waste money on high-tech gadgets and suits when you can just cut a couple holes in a bin bag and be on your way. Make way for justice.

Day 22 – Stout

Many obstacles in life can seem quite overwhelming and you might find yourself doubting what you can achieve. For what it is worth, as long as you try your best then any attempt at something is a good enough attempt. Just think and put things into perspective, at least you’re not in the middle of a goblin war trying to protect a shiny hula hoop while also trying to figure out where that horrid burning smell is coming from. Some problems just seem miniscule compared to that.

Day 23 – Fiery

In an attempt to make themselves fireproof, Steve thought it would be a bright idea to turn themselves orange. They believe that if they look like fire, then the fire will see them as one of their own and not attack them. I don’t have the heart to tell them that fire is as chaotic as they are and would probably still attack them if they looked like fire. On the other hand, I know that dye they used doesn’t wash out easily so I don’t want to add extra pain on top of that when they eventually find that out.

Day 24 – Serene

Taking a break is always a good thing to do when times get a little overwhelming. Thankfully, Steve was able to find a lovely spa nearby to take a few minutes to ponder whilst kicking their legs in the water. They even got visited by a lovely bluebird who didn’t mistake them for food and tried to eat him like most birds do. Just two friends enjoying the water before going their separate ways, can’t beat little moments like this.

Day 25 – Claw

In the lead-up to October, Steve has been narrowing down costumes on what they want to wear for Halloween. Rather than just going costume shopping, they prefer to really get stuck into the character and push the boundaries of what they can really do. Not entirely sure how they managed to get metal claws, but now all they need is some yellow spandex and a cigar to complete the look.

Day 26 – Thwack

Although adventures are all good fun, it’s setting down roots that make life worth living. Having a place to call your home and be yourself is something everybody should have. Whether you want to be in a vivid community of neighbours or on your own living off the grid, your lifestyle should be your own and help you grow as a person. Especially since that growth will help you in certain situations, like whether or not it was a good idea to commit to wearing a fake beard.

Day 27 – Fluffy

To help get a better look at the surroundings, Steve enjoys a good climb up nearby trees to see what is on the horizon. However, it can be quite annoying when some fuzzball is blocking your path by lazily chilling in your way. People who despise being stuck behind slow walkers have never had to deal with sluggish climbers, cause they are a whole different ball game. No amount of Cushelle bribes will ever help in these scenarios.

Day 28 – Busting

As we get closer and closer to October, some strange things seem to be going on in the neighbourhood. I would highly advise you not to call Steve to help, they may look like they can handle the job but honestly, that backpack is full of frozen pizzas and they have no intention of busting some ghosts. My best bet would be to contact a monster hunter, they usually have a lot of tools to help in the scenario, and they won’t abandon you with house ghosts as well as steal all your pizzas from your freezer.

Day 29 – Vitality

It is always important to be mindful of the choices you make, as you never know what habit you choose to have could be affecting you. So take today to nurture yourself and start a habit to help better your lifestyle, make today the start of a new diet or a daily walk plan. If not then that is okay too, just remember to be mindful and think of ways to keep your ticker in tip-top shape.

Day 30 – Broadcast

After a month of showcasing their adventures, this is Steve signing off and stepping away from the spotlight. I’m sure they’ll pop in from time to time as they’re always around but they’ve been very happy to have some time to tell tales and share stories. Until next time!
