When the 4 R’s project was over and done with, we shot right into the next project known as the Collections project but has been later renamed to “The Legacy of Steve”. Steve is a humanoid character who is created and adapts to its surroundings and is titled based on the adaption it chooses. This idea has become one of my favourites and this post will be discussing my ideas and processes that led me to my final outcome as well as showcase the Steves that will forever be documented as the Steves who started it all.
Idea Generation
When given the brief for this project, I went about my usual ways of idea generation and created a mind map of what ideas I could create and pathways this project can take me. Those ideas were then split into their own categories and each branched a few more ideas in each category. That allowed me to figure out what ideas were the best to take and what ideas could be easily combined into one idea.

Idea Generation
Idea Development
Once I figured out what idea was going to be my main idea, I roughly sketched what components I could create for the concept. This allowed me to visualise what could work for the concept as well as what I could create in regards to time frames and deadlines as I didn’t want to overload this project and plan to create loads but end up not creating as much as I want to.

Idea Concept Drawing
Idea Creation Experimentation
After drawing out concepts and figuring out what would work best for the project, it was time to create and figure out how things would turn out. Now after figuring out how to create the Steves themselves, in regards to how their proportions turned out were a mystery in the beginning. It was difficult to try and make everything symmetrical but this is a quality I liked when making them. No matter if they had long arms and short legs, or even long legs and hardly any arms, all Steves that I have created are all loved and given their own place to adapt and become themselves

Artist Exhibitions
For this projects visual studies, we travelled to a few galleries to check out current exhibits being held within the Glynn Vivian and the Emission galleries. Glynn Vivian’s exhibition was about Phytopia which mainly was based around the concept of The Tree of Life and circled around the concept of process and how mapping and mind map techniques can be displayed in different ways. I found this exhibit intriguing and inspiring towards my own processes and allowed me to consider different methods of idea process and generation for future projects. The Emission Gallery’s Exhibit was based around the works of Ingrid Murphy. The works themselves were all interesting but the ones that related quite closely to this project was her collection of modified ceramic dogs that all had their own titles based on what they looked like. This allowed me to have ideas on what I can call my own Steves and how that can affect their outlook.
Idea Redevelopment + Final Outcome
By the end of this project, I had already created my own collection of Steves each with their own personalities. These personalities were chosen and considered when the Steves were placed and adapted to objects and surrounds around my desk. These Steves have all been a blast to create and I hope I get to create more for future projects.
