Upon settling back into the realm of 3D, we were set the task of incorporating our previous 3D work but in a 2D way. This projects allowed us to see the practical process and idea generation most people in the 3D world have when creating products, objects and other 3D style entities. This led into research of companies and brands I would probably never look into which gave me insight into what kind of creative industries the 3D world can link to.
Layered Sketching
At the start of this project, we were given a plain ordinary image of a certain scenery which we had to incorporate our 3D project work into. Now my process into figuring out how to incorporate my objects into a 2D format was to layer the concept I had with different layers of tracing paper to show development and extension of that idea. That way instead of having one large sketched format, I created an adaptable multi layered format so its easy to rearrange and change up ideas if needed.

Product Design/Top Trump
For the written criteria of this project, We were tasked to create a product based of an object of significance and create a Top Trump based on that imaginary product. A Top Trump is a card with limited information that basically gives a brief synopsis about something, applying backstory and an assortment of traits or statistics of significance to the product themselves. I chose to base my Top Trump on a two headed coin and named it “Fixed Judgement” which is a coin that curses the beholder with overwhelming greed and bloodlust. The backstory I chose for this product is indeed quite sinister but I balanced that out by choosing my statistics to have a comedic element to them so the piece itself is more enjoyable to hold and read.

Photojournalism Workshop
During this project, we got the chance to attend a photojournalism workshop which showed us the art of photojournalism and collage and how that is applied to the modern era through mediums such as magazines and political advertising. We were then tasked to create our own collage based around whatever we wanted but the pictures themselves could only be salvaged from either newspapers or magazines. This led me to create what I like to call “Paranoia” which is a small woodland create which is mainly comprised of different types of eyes, all looking in every direction much like how people feel like others are watching them when experiencing “Paranoia”. The piece itself managed to get into the Top 5 chosen by the coordinators of the workshop which I myself find quite rewarding since all I did for those few hours was go through newspapers cutting out all the eyes I could find. What a thrilling experience that was and would happily try again when composing future work that could include complex disorders or emotions.
