As apart of the foundation course, I was privileged enough to go to the city of London and explore its popular museums and places that I never get to experience whenever I get the chance to go to London. These experiences are things I definitely will remember for years to come due to the fact although it was majorly sightseeing and indulging myself in art and culture, it was also a bonding experience amongst classmates and a chance to get to know people I haven’t already got acquainted with.
The Hive – Kew Gardens
After spending around 4-5 hours on a coach, we finally arrived in London where our first stop was the Kew Gardens. The Kew Gardens is this vastly huge nature complex that is filled with art pieces and scientific research that helps better understand Botany, Horticulture and Agriculture. Sadly due to restriction with time we weren’t able to explore the whole of the gardens to our hearts content but we were able to explore one piece in particular called “The Hive”. The Hive is a giant layered sculpture of metal piping that creates a visualisation of what it sounds like within a beehive, making an illusion of sound and sight to provide better understanding of bees and their behaviour in a beautiful and creative way.

Tate Modern
After visiting the Kew Gardens for a short while, we were then escorted to the Tate Modern. Thankfully we were able to fully explore the vast exhibits and culture of this place without the hassle of a short time limit. The main exhibit that was presented at the time was an Anni Albers exhibit who is a textiles artist who specialises in the art of abstract weaving to create funky and stylish patterns and designs.

V&A Museum – Fashioned By Nature
Finally, on our London trip, we spent our last day at the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum which is a large more historic based facility that holds many historical art pieces as well as exhibits from around the world. The two main exhibits we were able to experience were the Frida Kahlo exhibit and the Fashioned By Nature Exhibit. Due to restrictions with photography, I am unable to provide pictures of the Frida Kahlo exhibit so the majority of this post will be spent discussing the Fashioned By Nature Exhibit.
Fashioned By Nature was what I would like to call a bizarre journey in a world of mad creativity. The exhibit itself is about articles of clothing that have been fashioned out of things created by natural things rather than manufactured material such as Polyester. The materials used to create these articles of clothing were frankly quite weird but it was interesting and beautiful to witness, It allowed me to imagine a dystopian reality where people where these clothes on a daily basis and how the clothes we wear now are the ones found weird and bizarre.
